If you work in one of Nelnet’s Lincoln offices, you may have noticed the addition of several shiny new bike racks scattered across downtown.

Since the beginning of 2018, the nonprofit organization BikeLNK installed 19 kiosks covering areas from the Haymarket District to East Campus. Nelnet is proud to partner with Speedway Properties to sponsor a cycling station on the corner of 21st and L streets, near Nelnet’s 401 Building.

In 2013, an initiative to implement a bike share program in Lincoln began with the goal of creating a green transportation option for residents of the city. In just a few years, this initiative resulted in 100 bicycles being made available for community use, simplifying commutes for many.

For $3, users can check out bikes for 30-minute periods using credit or debit cards, and check them in at any BikeLNK station. Three-day, monthly, and annual membership plans are also available, and can be purchased at BikeLNK.com and the BCycle App.
