At Nelnet, we’re dedicated to helping associates in and out of the workplace. One way we accomplish that? The Nelnet Scholars Program.

Started in 2004, this program provides higher-ed scholarships to children of Nelnet associates every year. It’s just another way that we create opportunities for people where they live, learn, and work.

Each year, 30 students are awarded scholarships through Nelnet Scholars – 25 are awarded $1,500 Nelnet Cares Scholarships and five are awarded $5,000 Nelnet Honors Scholarships. These students earn scholarships based on academic performance, school participation, and involvement in community activities.

To fill out an application for the Nelnet Scholars Program, your child must be a high school senior or graduate with a minimum GPA of 2.5, enrolled in or planning to attend a college, university, or vocational-technical school as a full-time student.

Putting a child through college can be expensive, which is why the Nelnet Scholars Program was created. We want to help children of Nelnet parents find success in the classroom and fulfilling careers after graduation. It’s the least we can do for all the awesome work our associates accomplish every day.

Applications typically open in January. If you’d like to learn more about the Nelnet Scholars Program and other ways Nelnet gives back, we’ve got you covered.
