In April, a collection of Great Lakes associates participated in the 19th annual Corporate Cup in Aberdeen, South Dakota, taking third place out of the five teams in their division.

Each year, local businesses in Aberdeen renew business rivalries and promote health and wellness in the annual event. Businesses send Core Teams of 15 people and a CEO to compete in events like basketball, volleyball, and track, with special CEO events catered to that year’s theme.

This year’s theme, elected by the Mayors Council, was Boot Camp. Jim Fahley, manager of borrower accounts at Great Lakes, participated in CEO events Mine Sweeper and Sniper Range. Fahley was impressed by the experience, but looked beyond 2018 in preparation for next year’s event.

“This was very much a team effort and great fun,” said Fahley. “I advised our group that on future visits to the Aberdeen office, they can expect granola and kale as treats, rather than donuts, so we can improve our performance in future events like this.”

For those who were not a part of the Core Team, activities like ZUMBA Gold and a fitness walk allowed associates to take part in the fun and celebrate wellness, regardless of fitness level. Event participants were also encouraged to visit a blood drive stationed outside of the Corporate Cup to give back to the community.

Congratulations to the Great Lakes team!
