This May, the second annual Nebraska Corporate Games concluded after a week and a half of competitive company clashes. The games featured teams from some of the state’s beloved businesses, including your friendly, neighborhood Nelnet.

The Nebraska Corporate Games were created to celebrate teamwork, strengthen company pride, and promote corporate wellness through healthy competition. The games consist of 11 competitions including athletic and non-athletic events like volleyball, trivia, and cornhole.

This year, the games took place from April 22 through May 1 at venues throughout Lincoln. Teams from 26 community leading organizations like Nelnet, Scheels, and Pinnacle Bank competed in two different divisions based on the number of employees at each company.

When registration was opened, Nelnet associates answered the call, assembling teams for nine different events. Overall, Nelnet finished fifth in the larger division (300+ associates) and our teams crushed it in their respective competitions, taking home silver in the golf scramble and trivia, and bronze in bowling, men’s basketball, and coed volleyball.

The Nebraska Corporate Games is a great opportunity for associates to support wellness and healthy competition outside the workplace. It gives active minds and bodies an activity that demonstrates the power of their brains and brawns, and more importantly, the power of teamwork and Nelnet culture. It’s never too early to start training for next year’s games, so get out there and be active this summer.

Did you know Nelnet provides associates $300 each year to spend on wellness expenses like gym memberships and fitness trackers?
